Privacy Policy

Zuletzt aktualisiert: 20 July 2026

This policy explains what data PrepDaF collects, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

PrepDaF is run by PrepDaF LLC, Newark, Delaware, United States.

1. We are independent

PrepDaF is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to telc gGmbH, the Goethe-Institut or the TestDaF-Institut. We prepare you for their exams. We do not represent them and we do not issue their certificates.

2. What we collect, and how long we keep it

  • Your account: your email address and name, plus what you tell us when setting up — target exam, your level, your exam date, and how much time you want to study each day. Kept while your account exists, and deleted when you ask us to delete it.
  • Your work: written answers, placement test results, the scores and feedback we generate, and how long tasks took you. Kept with your account, and deleted along with it.
  • Your voice: recordings and live microphone audio from speaking practice. Kept only while we process them — a recording is deleted automatically once its feedback has been generated, and never becomes part of your account history.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device details, sign-in and language cookies, and local storage for your theme setting and placement test progress. Cookies and local storage last as long as our Cookie Policy describes; anything that appears in server logs is kept short-term, for security and troubleshooting.

3. What we do with it

We use your data to run the service, generate your feedback, build your study plan, keep your account secure, and — only if you asked for it — send you marketing email.

Two things we do not do: we do not sell your data, and we do not use your texts, essays or recordings to train AI models.

4. Who else handles it

We share data only with the service providers we need to run PrepDaF, and only under data processing agreements:

Type of providerWhat they doWhat they receive
AI processingGrades your writing and powers live speaking practiceYour written answers and voice audio
Sign-in providerLets you sign in with an account you already haveYour name and email
Email deliverySends the emails we owe youYour email address and the message

Cloud database and file storageStores your account and your work, and runs the part of PrepDaF that generates feedbackAccount data, your progress, voice recordings while they are processed, system logs

We do not sell or share your data with anyone else, and none of these providers may use it for their own purposes. If you want to know which companies these are, ask us at contact@prepdaf.com and we will tell you.

The servers that deliver the website and the dashboard are located in Germany, so your visits and the logs they produce stay inside the EU.

The remaining providers are based outside the European Economic Area, so the data they handle may be processed there. Every such transfer is covered by the safeguards EU law requires: either an EU decision that the country protects data to an equivalent standard, or the European Commission's standard data protection contract signed by the provider.

5. Children

PrepDaF is not for anyone under 16 — or older, if your country sets a higher age for digital consent. We cannot verify age, and in anonymous practice sessions we cannot check it at all.

If your child has used PrepDaF without your consent, email contact@prepdaf.com and we will delete the account and the data.

6. Your rights

If the GDPR applies to you, you can ask us to show you your data, correct it, delete it, send you a copy, or stop processing it. You can also complain to your national data protection authority.

Write to contact@prepdaf.com. We will answer within one month.
